Effective date: April 13, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the CanvassLite platform operated at canvasslite.com ("Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
CanvassLite is a web-based platform that helps political campaigns, civic organizations, and advocacy groups organize door-to-door canvassing operations. The Service provides household mapping, visit tracking, team coordination, and data management tools.
You must be at least 16 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement to use this Service. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
Campaign organizers create accounts using a valid email address. Volunteers may join campaigns using an invite link and their name, without creating a full account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
New campaigns receive a 14-day free trial with Growth-level access (up to 10,000 households and 15 volunteers). No credit card is required. When the trial ends, write operations (adding households, logging visits, etc.) are suspended until a paid plan is activated. Your data is preserved — see Section 11 for retention details.
Monthly subscription plans (Starter, Growth, Pro) are billed on a recurring monthly basis. Seasonal Pass plans (Campaign Pass, Campaign Pro) are one-time payments for access until the end of the campaign.
All payments are processed securely through Stripe. We do not store or have access to your credit card information. By subscribing, you authorize recurring charges for monthly plans until you cancel.
You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No partial refunds are provided for unused time within a billing period.
Each plan includes limits on the number of households and volunteers. If you exceed your plan limits, you will need to upgrade to a higher plan. Downgrading to a plan with lower limits does not delete your data — the platform will display the oldest records within your plan limit, and upgrading again restores access to all data.
We may change pricing with 30 days' notice to active subscribers. Current pricing is always displayed at canvasslite.com/#pricing.
Optional add-on services may be purchased separately from your plan subscription. Add-ons are billed independently and are subject to the same cancellation and refund policies as plan subscriptions unless stated otherwise below.
DataVault provides automated data backups and the ability to restore campaign data to a previous snapshot. The following terms apply:
CanvassLite includes a free hosted campaign page ("Campaign Page") on every plan, including the free trial. A Campaign Page is a publicly accessible webpage that displays information you provide, such as your name, photo, biography, platform issues, contact details, and an optional volunteer signup form.
Campaign Pages are provided exclusively for political campaigns and door-to-door outreach activities, including canvassing, field sales, and community organizing. Pages used for purposes unrelated to campaigns or D2D outreach — including but not limited to personal blogs, e-commerce, portfolio sites, or general advertising — will be reviewed and may be suspended or removed without notice.
You are solely responsible for all content published on your Campaign Page. Content is checked against automated moderation filters at the time of publishing. We reserve the right to unpublish or remove any page that contains hate speech, slurs, threats, misleading impersonation, or any material that violates applicable law or these Terms.
Once published, your Campaign Page remains publicly accessible even if your free trial ends, your subscription expires, or your plan is cancelled. You will not be able to edit or republish the page until you reactivate a plan. If your campaign data is permanently deleted under our data retention policy (Section 11), the published page may also be removed.
If you enable the volunteer signup form, visitors may submit their name, email, and phone number through your Campaign Page. This data is stored in your campaign dashboard and is subject to the same data handling, retention, and privacy policies as all other campaign data. You are responsible for informing volunteers how their data will be used.
An optional Custom Domain add-on allows you to point your own domain to your Campaign Page. SSL certificates and DNS verification are handled automatically. Custom Domain availability is subject to the add-on subscription remaining active.
Published Campaign Pages include a report button that allows visitors to flag inappropriate content. We review flagged pages and may unpublish or remove pages that violate these Terms. To report a page directly, contact support@canvasslite.com.
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes. You may not:
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts, and to unpublish Campaign Pages, that violate these terms.
You retain full ownership of all data you upload to CanvassLite, including household records, visit data, and campaign information. We do not claim any intellectual property rights over your content.
By uploading data, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and display that data solely to provide the Service to you. This license terminates when your data is deleted.
You may export your campaign data as CSV at any time through the dashboard. We will not hold your data hostage.
You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to upload and use any data in the Service, including compliance with applicable voter data regulations and privacy laws in your jurisdiction.
CanvassLite is a tool that processes data you provide. You are responsible for:
CanvassLite does not independently verify the source or legality of uploaded data.
We strive to maintain high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." We may perform maintenance, updates, or experience outages. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of planned downtime.
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
You agree to indemnify and hold CanvassLite harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable attorney fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any applicable law.
We may suspend or terminate your account if:
Upon termination, you may request an export of your data within 30 days. After 30 days, data is permanently deleted.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes by email at least 15 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
